Lasting Perfection Foundation IS BETTER THAN EVER
It’s what you’ve all been waiting for, our brand-new Lasting Perfection Foundation is finally here.
So, what goes into making our Lasting Perfection Foundation? We sat down with our very own Senior Beauty Product Technologist, Kieren Thompson to get the (Green) tea…we see you Matte foundation.
Hi Kieren! So how do you create a foundation? What are the key ingredients that have gone into Lasting Perfection?
We knew our customers wanted not only a lightweight finish, but they also wanted amazing coverage and long lasting wear. With that in mind, we looked at our ingredient library, then decided what ingredients we can choose to make that happen. We used a combination of emollients and humectants to give that amazing skin-like feeling. For our Satin foundation, we carefully picked high refractive index emollients (fancy way of saying shiny) to give that GLOW! And, for our matte foundation we created a special formula to help diffract the light, giving a matte finish without being drying. We wanted to boost our foundations with skin loving ingredients- so for the Matte foundation we added Niacinamide and Green tea extract as well as Sunscreen filters to give SPF 30 protection. In the Satin foundation, we have Collagen boosting peptides and the hydration queen, hyaluronic acid- think of it as a tall glass of water for the skin.
Does foundation have skincare benefits?
Well, ours certainly does! The satin foundation contains a wonderful ingredient called Acetyl hexapeptide-8 which helps boost collagen levels in the skin, giving a healthy glow from within. We also have the hydration powerhouse hyaluronic acid, which locks water to the skin helping to give a plumped look.
Our new matte foundation contains the skin care powerhouse Niacinamide (or pro-vitamin B3). This has a whole raft of skin care benefits, from helping to regulate sebum production in the skin to even skin tone. Additionally, our matte foundation follows suit of our OG Lasting Perfection in that it has SPF 30- now I would always recommend to still use this over the top of your normal SPF routine not instead, however propping that up with your foundation is not a bad thing. Sunscreen filters are super beneficial are the GOAT for anti-ageing benefits.
How do I choose the right shade /how do I identify my skin tone and undertone? Can you share what yours are and what shade you’d choose as a result?
Picking the right shade of foundation sounds like a daunting ordeal but I promise it’s not. Identifying your undertone is a super useful as a start! As a very brief guide, people with cool undertones have a pinky/blue hint to their skin, warm tones mean you have a yellow/red or orange hint and neutral is somewhere in between but can look a bit olive or grey depending on your skin tone. Another way is to check out the veins on your wrist! If they appear blue or purple, you likely have cool undertones, while green veins suggest warm undertones. If your veins are a mix of both or hard to distinguish, you may have neutral undertones. Additionally, people with cool undertones tend to suit silver jewellery, while warm undertones are flattered by gold. Neutral undertones often suit both.
What is your favourite technique to apply foundation?
I think warming the product up in the tips of the fingers and working into the skin slowly for light coverage is the way to go! If not that, then pumping a small amount onto the back of my hand and blending into the skin with a medium sized brush that isn’t too dense. No matter how you apply foundation I think little by little to build your desired finish is the way to go.
How does the Lasting Perfection formulation compare to high-end formulations?
This foundation competes with the big gals. What do you want out of high-end foundation? Long lasting...High coverage…lightweight…skin care benefits? We got them all, and don’t just take our word for it. We consumer tested both of our foundations on 100 people who agreed that our foundations last 24+ hours and have a lightweight feel. We also have packed them full of skin care benefits. You don’t have to compromise, you can get that luxury feeling product with a Collection price.
Will my skin type determine whether I should go for Satin or Matte?
Generally, I would advise people with normal to oily skin to wear the matte foundation, and those with more normal to dry skin to wear satin. This is purely from an active ingredient point of view, but the actual finishes of the product work on all skin types. We made sure that when we formulated these foundations, that they would work no matter your skin type.
What are your three favourite things about the new Lasting Perfection foundation?
Hmm tricky, because I they are so damn good, but I would have to say…
- Skin feel
- How lightweight they both are
- The finishes are just, mwah!
